A gaze so tender, soft and pure,
a mother’s heart beats strong and sure.
Be it sheep, human, creature small,
in love we bind, both great and small.

I was outside, standing among the sheep in the meadow, simply observing. Then, my eye caught a mother sheep looking at her lamb, so tender, soft, and pure. That single gaze moved me deeply. A small gesture, yet it spoke volumes: care, connection, trust.

I wanted to capture that exact moment, the gaze, the silence, the bond. Because motherly love is universal, whether it’s between humans or animals. I first created a charcoal drawing, followed by an oil painting on panel. This work is an ode to animal life, and to the loving gaze we only notice when we truly take the time to see.
Sadly, we sometimes forget that animals, too, are living beings with feelings, needs, and a right to respect. In intensive livestock farming, there has long been little room for this awareness. Fortunately, consciousness is growing, and more steps are being taken toward better care and living conditions. With this painting, I hope to convey the deep emotion of universal motherly love.

Preview of a New Work in Progress
Here you see a first study: a charcoal drawing on paper of a swan with her young. This drawing serves as a reference for an oil painting I am currently working on. The charcoal sketch is still part of my creative process and will only be available for purchase once the final painting is completed.

I will share the finished painting along with the story behind it, the accompanying charcoal sketch, sales details, and announcements about possible exhibitions in my e-newsletter.
