The painting Veiltails is a tribute to the beauty and elegance of this remarkable variation of the ‘common’ goldfish. It was born from my love for animals and my desire to raise awareness about the well-being of all fish kept as pets.

As a child, I had guppies, not in a bowl, but in a small rectangular tank. Back then, fishbowls were very common, but today we know that a spacious, well-equipped tank is much better for fish. In the wild, goldfish can live up to forty years! In a poorly maintained aquarium, they often survive only three years, but with proper care, they can thrive for twenty years or more. The better their living conditions, the longer and happier their lives.
With this painting, I aim to showcase the exquisite beauty of veiltails without the need to keep them in captivity. A painting allows you to enjoy their elegance without the responsibilities of care or concerns about animal welfare. Plus, you won’t have to worry about who will feed your fish during vacations!
I hope this work inspires people to appreciate fish in a different way.

As you can see in the photo my studio with the painting on the floor and Sammy, my cat, in front of it.
Completely cat-proof! Sammy clearly isn’t interested in “catching” these fish. That saves another rescue mission for the aquarium! A painting has its perks: no splashing, no feeding, and even a curious cat can’t do any damage.
